Reading Police Honored By Home Base For Participating in No Shave November
READING — Chief Mark Segalla is pleased to announce that the Reading Police Department has been honored by Home Base, a joint program of the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital, for its donation of $2,525 to support veterans and their families.
The 22 officers who participated each pledged $100 to Home Base and earned a month-long waiver from the department’s policy restricting facial hair growth. Along with the officers, four Reading residents donated an additional $325 to Home Base through the Reading Police Department.
“I am proud of our officers for their commitment to helping with the important work that Home Base does,” Chief Segalla said. “No Shave November is an excellent way for the department to contribute financially while raising awareness and support for the veterans who have fought to defend our way of life.”
Home Base is dedicated to helping post Sept. 11 service members, veterans and their families who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, have a traumatic brain injury, or other related conditions.
