NEMLEC Foundation to Host Beyond Sandy Hook Seminar
DRACUT — The NEMLEC Police Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce that it will host a seminar in June highlighting critical analysis and lessons learned from the Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting.

WHO
Connecticut State Police Instructor Daniel Jewiss, who was the case officer for the Sandy Hook Shooting, and Connecticut State Police Lt. Eric Murray.
WHAT
“Beyond Sandy Hook, Critical Analysis and Lessons Learned from the Sandy Hook School Shooting” is a one-day seminar designed as both a presentation of the critical analysis of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting and a skill builder for dispatchers, first responders, detectives, supervisors and commanders.
Presentations will cover constructive insights and key takeaways that were learned through first-hand experience and critical analysis of Sandy Hook and other active shooter events. Instructors will focus on active shooter dispatch, crisis response planning, investigative considerations and community recovery.
Topics will include:
- The definition of an active shooter
- The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting — what really happened
- Active shooter dispatch — script writing
- First priorities for first responders
- The Reunification Process
- An Investigator’s Role
- Command Post Operations
- Supporting Victims’ Families
- Personnel Wellness
- After Action Review Process
