NORTH READING — Chief Michael P. Murphy reports that a suspect was arrested fleeing on foot after a traffic stop on Lowell Road earlier this afternoon.
The investigation remains active and ongoing, but earlier today North Reading Police conducted a traffic stop of a passenger vehicle for a motor vehicle violation. At some point, the driver exited his vehicle and ran from police and was picked up by another man in a van.
The department issued a warning to area police departments to be on the lookout for the suspect, and shortly afterward he was arrested in Lawrence by State Troopers.
Chief Murphy advises that there is NO DANGER to the community.
More information will be released as soon as it becomes available. The North Reading Police Department offers its sincere thanks to the Lawrence Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police, and the State Police Air Wing for their assistance.
