Newburyport Police Charge Juvenile Female in Connection with Armed Robbery
NEWBURYPORT — City Marshal Mark Murray reports that the Newburyport Police Department charged a third person in connection with an armed robbery that occurred over the weekend.
A 17-YEAR-OLD FEMALE, OF NEWBUYRPORT is charged with Armed Robbery.
On Sunday, Feb. 19, at approximately 6:40 p.m., police received a report of an armed robbery outside Riverside Cycles at the Tannery Shopping Center.
Upon arrival, police located five juvenile victims who stated they had been robbed at gunpoint and their backpacks and wallets were stolen. They were not injured.
The victims were able to provide a description of the suspect vehicle that two men were seen entering, which was given to area police departments.
At approximately 8 p.m., a Salisbury Police Officer stopped a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt on Lafayette Road for speeding that matched the description of the suspect vehicle. Seabrook, Amesbury and Newburyport Police also responded to the scene.
Inside the vehicle, police located the two men involved in the robbery, JUSTIN DONAHUE, AGE 19, OF AMESBURY and DAMON BAROWY, AGE 18, OF AMESBURY. They were arrested on scene.
The owner of the vehicle, who was also driving at the time of the stop, was the FEMALE JUVENILE.
Following an investigation, Newburyport Police determined that the FEMALE JUVENILE had driven DONAHUE and BAROWY to the Tannery and later picked them up after they robbed the five victims and fled the scene. She then continued to drive DONAHUE and BAROWY around until she was stopped in Salisbury.
The FEMALE JUVENILE will be summonsed to Newburyport District Court at a later date.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
