Bedford Police Arrest Shoplifting Suspect
BEDFORD, N.H. — Chief John J. Bryfonski reports that the Bedford Police Department arrested a shoplifting suspect over the weekend after he fled police custody and fell into the Merrimack River.
TIMOTHY WINSLOW, AGE 22, OF MANCHESTER was arrested and charged with:
- Willful Concealment
- False Report to Law Enforcement
- Resisting Arrest or Detention
On Friday, Dec. 23, just before 10 p.m., Bedford Police observed a male pushing a full shopping cart toward the rear of a retail store in the Bedford Mall plaza at 81 South River Road. Police made contact with the suspect, who then fled the scene.
Multiple Bedford units, as well as Manchester Police and the New Hampshire State Police K-9 unit, were dispatched to locate the suspect, who had scaled a fence at the shopping center in the direction of Route 293 in Manchester.
During this time, Bedford Police determined that the suspect had stolen the items in the carriage from a local retail store. The merchandise totaled approximately $600.
Responding units on Route 293 heard the suspect fall into the Merrimack River and were then notified that he had crossed the river, emerging in a Manchester neighborhood on the opposite side. Manchester Police located and arrested the suspect, who was identified as WINSLOW.
WINSLOW was transported to the Bedford Police station, where we was booked and then later released on bail. He is scheduled to appear in Merrimack District Court on Jan. 27 for arraignment.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
