Andover High School Takes Precautions After Threat Written on Common Area Wall
Nonspecific Threat Written in Pencil
ANDOVER — Superintendent of Schools Sheldon Berman and Andover High School Principal Philip Conrad report that the school department is acting out of an abundance of caution after a nonspecific threat was found scrawled in pencil on a common area wall Tuesday.
The 2-inch-by-6-inch threat warned against coming to school on December 21, but did not name anyone or make any specific threats.
Officials do not believe that there is any danger to the school community. Nonetheless, the Andover Police Department has also been notified and is conducting an investigation.
Faculty, students, and families will notice an increased police presence at Andover High School on Wednesday out of an abundance of caution. Schools will operate as scheduled.
“While we do not believe there is any danger, we have policies and procedures in place, and we believe it is prudent to follow them,” Principal Conrad said. “Superintendent Berman and I appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding, and I sincerely apologize for this situation. The safety and security of our students, faculty, and staff is paramount.”
Anyone with questions or concerns may call Andover High School at 978-247-5500.
