Burlington Police Charge Man who Allegedly Stole Nearly $500,000 of Equipment
BURLINGTON — Chief Michael Kent reports that the Burlington Police Department has charged a man with larceny after he allegedly stole almost $500,000 worth of equipment from his employer to sell online.
GEOFFREY JAMES, AGE 52, OF BARRE is charged with Larceny Over $250 by a Single Scheme.
Burlington Police conducted an investigation into stolen medical, computer, and office equipment after being contacted by a local business about a possible theft. Detectives subsequently served a search warrant, which resulted in the recovery of stolen property worth $461,497.98, and other evidence at JAMES’ residence.
“This investigation conducted by Burlington Police Detectives unearthed hundreds of thousands of dollars of stolen goods,” Chief Kent said. “I commend my officers for their diligent work to restore order and find justice for a local business.”
JAMES is scheduled to be arraigned in Woburn District Court on January 18.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
