Andover Police Raise Over $11,000 During First No Shave November Initiative
ANDOVER– Chief Patrick Keefe is pleased to announce that Andover Police Department raised $11,266 during their first No-Shave November initiative, organized to support cancer prevention, research, and education.
Participating officers pledged an initial $50 entry fee and were granted a month-long waiver from the department policy restricting hair growth. Officers then continued to fundraise beyond their entry fees for the month of November, accepting donations from friends, family, and community members.
“Our goal when we started was to raise $2,500,” said Chief Keefe. “After we hit that in the first day, we knew we had an opportunity to raise more. I’m proud of our officers for their efforts and grateful to the community for supporting this cause. In particular, I’d like to recognize Lt. Chad Cooper for organizing the initiative and making our first No Shave November so successful.”
According to the World Health Organization, 22,000 people die from cancer worldwide each day. Nearly half of cancer diagnoses and deaths are preventable. No Shave November’s mission is to not only raise funds for cancer research and treatment, but also to educate the population about preventative measures. The No Shave November campaign has successfully raised over $3.5 million dollars in their fight against the disease.
