Methuen Police Donate Nearly $3,000 to Cops for Kids with Cancer as part of No Shave November
METHUEN — Mayor Steve Zanni and Chief Joseph Solomon are pleased to announce that the Methuen Police Department and Methuen Police Patrolman’s Union raised $2,920 for Cops for Kids With Cancer through their participation in No Shave November.
Each of the 55 participating officers pledged a donation to Cops for Kids with Cancer, and, in turn, were granted a month-long waiver from the department policy restricting facial hair growth. This year’s participation was double the number of officers who gave in 2015.
The department raised $1,460 as a result of the 30-day-fundraiser, which was then matched by the Methuen Police Patrolman’s Union, resulting in a total of $2,920 donated to the charity.
“Cops for Kids with Cancer is a worthy cause for the Methuen Police Department to represent,” Mayor Zanni said. “We believe in leading by example here in Methuen, and that starts with our police officers giving back to the community in a variety of ways.”
This is the second year that Methuen has participated in No Shave November on behalf of Cops for Kids with Cancer.
“I’m proud of the strong turnout from this year’s officers,” Chief Solomon said. “In particular, I’d like to recognize Detective Eric Deleon for organizing this initiative and building upon last year’s success.”
