Rockport Police Invite Community to Attend Child Identification Kit Event
ROCKPORT — Chief John Horvath is pleased to announce that the Rockport Police Department, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Rockport, will host another free Child Identification Kit event next week.
An ID kit is an effective tool that helps families maintain current photos and descriptive information about their children, which becomes extremely valuable to police if a child were to go missing.
WHEN
Monday, Oct. 24 from 3-8 p.m.
WHERE
Rockport Elementary School library, 34 Jerdens Lane
WHAT
The event is for all Rockport students in pre-school through second grade.
The Rotary Club of Rockport is sponsoring the event in order to provide parents and guardians with an ID Kit that they can maintain for their children. Each ID Kit will contain the child’s fingerprints, which will be taken on-site by Rockport police officers.
Additionally, parents and guardians can fill out an emergency information card that includes contact phone numbers, a growth chart, dental chart, current photograph, personal profile, physical characteristics and a DNA sample.
Parents and guardians are responsible for taking the ID Kits home. They will not be kept by the police department.
“Last year was a great success, with many families showing up to create an ID kit,” Chief Horvath said. “This is another added layer of safety and security for children that we can utilize in the event that an emergency situation were to occur.”
