Reading Police Department to Host RAD Class for Women
READING — Chief Mark D. Segalla is pleased to announce that the Reading Police Department will host a free Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) course for women this fall.
The program is designed to teach personal safety skills. It begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, and progresses to hands-on physical defense techniques.
“This is a valuable course for women, as it provides participants with key self defense strategies to implement if an emergency situation were to occur,” Chief Segalla said. “I encourage anyone who hasn’t already completed the class with us to sign up.”
This session consists of four classes, each of which are four hours long, and will begin next month and continue through November. The schedule is as follows:
- Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 6-10 p.m.
- Thursday, Oct. 27, from 6-10 p.m.
- Tuesday, Nov. 1, from 6-10 p.m.
- Thursday, Nov. 3, from 6-10 p.m.
Classes will be held at the Reading Police Department, 15 Union St. Call 781-942-6752 or email Community Service Officer Kristen Stasiak at KStasiak@ci.reading.ma.us for sign-ups and questions.
