Georgetown Fire Department to Host Open House
GEORGETOWN — Chief Fred A. Mitchell, Jr. is pleased to announce that the Georgetown Fire Department is hosting its annual open house next month.
Georgetown Fire Department, 47 Central St.
Saturday, Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Residents are invited to participate in the following activities at the Open House:
- Fire safety house tours
- Firetruck tours
- Interactive fire extinguisher simulation
- Firefighters in gear demonstration
- Learn firefighting skills with authentic training equipment — make your way through the entanglement prop, and show your strength with the forcible entry prop
In addition, firefighters will be conducting the Junior Firefighter Challenge for children all day. The challenge includes working the Keiser force machine (sledge hammer), an obstacle course, a tunnel crawl, rescuing a mannequin and operating a hose.
Vehicle extrication demonstrations will take place at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
“We have lined up multiple demonstrations and hands-on activities suitable for all ages at our open house,” Chief Mitchell said. “I encourage all Georgetown residents to stop by for a day of family fun and to interact with the department in a relaxed, educational setting.”
