*TRAFFIC ALERT*

Most of Rt. 38 Northbound Near Rt. 128 Rotary in Woburn will be Closed for Most of the Day Due to Major Water Main Break

(Updated 6:30 a.m.) WOBURN — Police Chief Robert Ferullo reports that a water main break will likely shut down a section of roadway in the city for most of the day.

Around 4 a.m., a concerned citizen called police to report a bubbling of Rt. 38 North (Main Street) near the Rt. 128 rotary. Crews soon determined that there was a significant break in a large water main that runs under the rotary, which itself runs under Rt. 128.

Chief Ferullo expects one northbound lane of Rt. 38 to be closed for most of the day for repairs. Woburn police officers will be attempting to keep one northbound lane open to traffic.

The southbound lanes are open and not affected

There is no impact on public drinking water systems, thanks to redundant systems that service the City of Woburn.

This is breaking news. Additional details will be provided as they become available.
