Great Barrington’s Bridge Street Bridge Temporarily Closed

GREAT BARRINGTON — Town Manager Jennifer Tabakin and Police Chief William Walsh Jr. announce that the Bridge Street bridge is closed effective immediately due to a traffic safety issue, but will be reopened tomorrow morning.

MassDOT contractors began work on renovating the bridge today and the construction staging prevents adequate visibility of ongoing traffic.

Signs have been put in place to reroute traffic around the bridge until it reopens tomorrow morning when construction crews are back on the scene. An announcement regarding the bridge’s temporary closure has been made through the town’s CodeRed system.

Emergency vehicles will be able to travel over the bridge this evening.
