Concord Police Arrest Man, 21, for Alleged Car Breaks
Nearly a Dozen Cars Reportedly Broken Into Recently
CONCORD — Chief Joseph O’Connor reports that, after a diligent investigation, the Concord Police Department arrested a man believed to be responsible for several reported car breaks in the community in recent days.
Concord Police responded to the area of Elm and River streets for a report of a suspicious person wearing a yellow shirt, carrying a trash bag, and going into people’s cars. This was the second time police were called to this area, and detectives were already investigating several reported car breaks and items stolen from cars.
Officers arrived quickly and saw a person matching the description of the suspect. After speaking with the individual, police determined that he was the suspect in a number of car breaks and he was carrying a number of pieces of stolen property on him. Witnesses also identified him as the suspect seen going through vehicles recently.
WILLIAM CAREY EASTERDAY, AGE 21, OF CONCORD was arrested and charged with SEVEN (7) counts of Breaking and Entering into a Vehicle to Commit a Felony and SIX (6) counts of Larceny under $250. He is expected to be arraigned Monday in Concord District Court.
The case remains open and the investigation remains ongoing. Additional charges are pending, as EASTERDAY is suspected in other car breaks. Police are investigating any connection that may exist among all the recent break-ins.
Chief O’Connor would like to take this time to remind residents to lock their car doors and hide valuable items and cash from view, even when vehicles are parked at home.
“We know that there are people who will take advantage of the opportunity to enter unlocked cars.” Chief O’Connor added, “We thank our residents for immediately calling us which resulted the arrest of the suspect.”
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
