Groveland Police Remind Residents to Secure Vehicles, Belongings Following Motor Vehicle Break-ins

GROVELAND – Deputy Chief Jeffrey Gillen and the Groveland Police Department are reminding residents to always lock their vehicles and secure their belongings after several cars were broken into this week.

These motor vehicle break-ins occurred overnight. Stolen items include cash, sunglasses and clothing.

In order to prevent thefts from motor vehicles, Groveland Police are advising residents to always lock their vehicles, and to never leave their belongings, especially those of value, in the car or in plain view. If the items need to be in the vehicle, secure them in the trunk, locked and out of sight.

“Whether your car is parked in your driveway or in a commercial lot, it is imperative that the vehicle is locked and that any valuable items are out of sight,” Deputy Chief Gillen said. “We have seen a rise in motor vehicle break-ins and want to make sure residents are doing everything the can to deter this type of criminal activity.”

If the public sees anything out of the ordinary, finds that any of their belongings have been stolen or has information about a motor vehicle break-in, they are encouraged to call the Groveland Police Department at 978-521-1212.

Additionally, Groveland Police recovered two baseball-style caps with “Lacrosse” on them. If anyone is missing those two hats and can describe them, they are urged to call Det. Heather Riley at 978-521-1212.
