Hull Police Arrest Man on Multiple Felony Charges
Detectives Use Surveillance to Solve Past Assault and Battery Case
HULL — Chief Robert C. Sawtelle reports that the Hull Police Department arrested a man on multiple felony charges after detectives linked him to a past assault and battery through surveillance footage and a lengthy search of the area.
JAMES ARTHUR LAWSON, AGE 25, OF HULL is charged with:
- Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (Box Cutter) (Felony)
- Armed Assault with Intent to Murder (Felony)
- Mayhem (Felony)
- Simple Assault and Battery (Misdemeanor)
- Possession of a Controlled Class D Substance (Misdemeanor)
- Possession of a Controlled Class E Substance (Misdemeanor)
On July 9, at approximately 2 a.m., officers responded to a possible assault on Bay Street. Upon arrival, police found two victims, one of whom sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Hull police detectives viewed video surveillance from a nearby convenience store and, after thoroughly canvassing the surrounding neighborhoods, were able to confirm LAWSON as the suspect. A search warrant for his residence was obtained, and, upon arrival at LAWSON’s apartment on July 21, detectives found marijuana and prescription drugs.
LAWSON was arrested and charged with multiple accounts of Assault and Battery and drug possession.
He is currently being held without bail in Plymouth County Correctional Facility pending his appearance in Hingham District Court on August 30.
“This shows excellent initiative and great work by our detectives,” Chief Sawtelle said. “I am proud of the efforts taken in order to remove a dangerous man from our streets.”
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
