Arlington Police Arrest Man for Armed Breaking and Entering into a Residence
ARLINGTON — Chief Frederick Ryan reports that the Arlington Police Department arrested a man today in connection with an armed breaking and entering into a home in town.
JOSEPH DEALMEIDA, AGE 26, OF ARLINGTON is charged with:
- Breaking and Entering in the Daytime for Felony
- Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon
- Armed Assault in a Dwelling
On July 20, at 11:52 a.m., police responded to a residence on Ridge Street for a report that the a woman was being assaulted by a man with a knife in her garage.
An Arlington Police Officer working a detail in the area arrived on scene and immediately apprehended the suspect, identified as DEALMEIDA. A witness who was nearby heard the woman’s calls for help was able to restrain DEALMEIDA until the officer arrived.
The victim had no injuries and did not require medical attention.
“This was a dangerous situation in which a suspect with a weapon was attempting to harm an individual,” Chief Ryan said. “Thanks to the quick response by this officer who was conducting traffic detail nearby, this suspect was apprehended safely and no one was injured.”
DEALMEIDA was arrested and booked at the Arlington Police Department where he is being held pending his arraignment at Cambridge District Court.
