Arlington Police and Middlesex Sheriff to Demonstrate Use of Scenario-based Firearms Training
ARLINGTON — In a rare glimpse into a cutting edge piece of law enforcement training technology, Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian and Arlington Police Chief Fred Ryan will discuss scenario-based training that is currently being conducted at the Arlington Police Department on the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office Mobile Training Center (MTC).
The MTC allows police officers to experience a series of realistic, interactive scenarios where officers are required to make split-second decisions and where they can practice utilizing communication skills to deescalate hostile situations.
Sheriff Koutoujian and Chief Ryan will offer remarks and members of the news media will have access to observe a training scenario.
Because of space limitations, interested reporters will be given individual demonstrations of the training scenario, but only one pool video and one pool still camera will be allowed to take footage of the scenario.
