Burlington Police Arrest Suspect in Connection with April Shooting at Burlington Mall

BURLINGTON — Police Chief Michael Kent reports that the Burlington Police Department, working in conjunction with a regional task force, arrested a Lowell man in connection with a shooting that occurred in the parking lot of the Burlington Mall on April 14.

NOEL SEMPRIT , AGE 19, OF LOWELL, was arrested earlier Tuesday in Lowell on a warrant out of Middlesex Superior Court.

SEMPRIT was arrested by Burlington Police Detectives working in conjunction with the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Arrest Squad and the Lowell Police Department.

On the evening of April 14, a man was shot in the mall parking lot and treated at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center for non life-threatening injuries. Police said at the time that they believed the suspect and victim were known to each other.

Chief Kent praised the work of detectives in locating SEMPRIT and closing the case.

“Burlington is a community that is not accustomed to violence. Thanks to the hard work of our detectives and partners, we have sent a clear message that wanton acts of senseless violence will not be tolerated, and those responsible for such acts will be tracked down and brought to justice,” Chief Kent said.

SEMPRIT was booked at the Burlington Police Department and will be arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court.
