West Newbury Police to Issue Tickets for Safe Behavior

WEST NEWBURY — Chief Art Reed is pleased to announce that the West Newbury Police Department will be rewarding children with a frozen treat this summer for safe behavior.icecreamticket

Police officers are now equipped with ice cream “tickets” that they’ll be handing out to young residents who they see wearing bicycle helmets while riding around town. “Keeping Cool with the Police” is the department’s latest community policing initiative aimed at connecting officers with families in a fun and positive way.

Residents who receive a ticket are then encouraged to redeem it for a free ice cream at the West Newbury Police Department, 401 Main St.

“We are always looking for new initiatives to promote safety in our community while interacting with residents,” Chief Reed said. “I hope to see many children redeeming these tickets over the next couple months.”
