Stoneham Police Charge Two with Drug Trafficking
STONEHAM — Police Chief James McIntyre reports that the Stoneham Police Department arrested a man and a woman yesterday for drug trafficking, and removed multiple grams of cocaine and several pounds of marijuana from a home and vehicle.
SHANE P. CORBETT, AGE 24, OF STONEHAM is charged with:
- Trafficking a Class B Substance (Cocaine)
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class C Substance (Xanax)
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class C Substance (Clonazepam)
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class D Substance (Marijuana)
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class E Substance (Gabapentin)
- Conspiracy to Violate the Controlled Substance Act
LORETTA T. DENHAM, AGE, 21 OF WAKEFIELD is charged with
- Trafficking a Class B Substance (Cocaine)
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class C Substance (Xanax)
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class C Substance (Clonazepam)
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class D Substance (Marijuana)
- Conspiracy to Violate the Controlled Substance Act
On Wednesday, June 22 at 1:40 p.m., Stoneham Police conducted a stop of a motor vehicle, which was operated by DENHAM with CORBETT in the passenger seat. Police found cocaine, marijuana and prescription medications inside the vehicle and then arrested the two suspects.
Stoneham Police Detectives, assisted by Southern Middlesex Regional Drug Task Force Detectives, had been conducting a long-term investigation into alleged drug sales made by CORBETT. As a result of their investigation, a search warrant was obtained for his home.
Detectives executing the search warrant recovered a quantity of cocaine, marijuana, prescription medications and cash from CORBETT’S residence.
In total, 2 1/2 pounds of marijuana, with an estimated street value of $4,600, 55 grams of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $5,500, a quantity of prescription medications, and $3,539 in cash were seized from CORBETT’S home and the vehicle.
CORBETT and DENHAM were booked at the Stoneham Police Department and released on bail. They will be arraigned at Woburn District Court on Friday, June 24.
Chief McIntyre would like to thank Stoneham Police Detectives, who put considerable time and effort into making this investigation a success, as well as Wakefield, Winchester and Woburn Detectives for their assistance over the length of the investigation. Additional assistance was provided by detectives from the Everett Police Department and their K-9 unit.
“This is another example of neighboring police departments working cooperatively to address the drug problems impacting our communities,” Chief McIntyre said. “I commend the work of all involved in the investigation and arrest of these suspects.”
