Bedford Police Remind Residents To Secure Vehicles Following Arrests
All Three Suspects Known to Police
BEDFORD, N.H. – Chief John Bryfonski reports that the Bedford Police Department arrested three men early this morning for allegedly attempting to break into a vehicle.
Two of the suspects are brothers and one of the suspects was arrested and charged last week for a similar offense.
MATTHEW PEDLEY, AGE 42, OF LONDONDERRY was arrested and charged with:
- Receiving Stolen Property (two counts)
- Breach of Bail Conditions
- Possession of Drugs in a Motor Vehicle
- Prowling
PEDLEY was also arrested and charged last Thursday for attempted Theft from a Motor Vehicle and two counts of Prowling.
MARK O’NEIL, AGE 24, OF BEDFORD was arrested and charged with:
- Receiving Stolen Property (two counts)
- Possession of a Controlled Drug
- Prowling
DANIEL O’NEIL, AGE 26, OF BEDFORD was arrested and charged with:
- Breach of Bail Conditions
- Possession of a Controlled Drug
- Prowling
On Thursday, June 16, just before 5 a.m., Bedford Police conducted a motor vehicle stop for a yellow line violation on Joppa Hill Road. While approaching the vehicle, the officer recognized all three occupants from previous arrests. PEDLEY and DANIEL O’NEIL were both placed under arrest for breaching the conditions of their bail.
Upon further investigation, officers observed items both in the car and on MARK O’NEIL’S person that were reported stolen from motor vehicles in the community, and he was subsequently placed under arrest.
“Thefts from motor vehicles continue to be a problem in Bedford,” Chief Bryfonski said. “Residents should take extra caution — never leave personal belongings in your car, and always lock your vehicle in your driveway.”
In order to prevent thefts from a motor vehicle, Bedford Police urge citizens to always lock their vehicles, even if it is in the driveway, and to never leave belongings, especially those of value, in the car or in plain view.
Bedford Police will have an increased presence throughout the community, but advise community members to be proactive in protecting their belongings.
If the public sees anything out of the ordinary or finds that any of their belongings have been stolen from their vehicle, they are encouraged to call the Bedford Police Department at 603-472-5113.
All three suspects are being held at the Hillsborough County House of Corrections pending their arraignment at Merrimack District Court.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
