Bedford Police Arrest Woman for Involvement in Fraud Ring
BEDFORD, N.H. — Chief John Bryfonski reports that the Bedford Police Department arrested a woman last week who was allegedly involved in fraudulent activity. The woman is believed to be connected to a fraud ring with four other suspects, who were arrested in Concord and Nashua.
ZAKIA JORDAN, AGE 22, OF MIAMI, FLA. was charged with Forgery and Identity Fraud.
On Thursday, June 9, at approximately 1:21 p.m., police responded to Citizens Bank, 106 South River Road, on a report of an attempted fraudulent transaction.
Upon an officer’s arrival, he learned that a woman, later identified as JORDAN, had entered the bank with a counterfeit Rhode Island I.D. and attempted to obtain a $1,000 cash advance on a fraudulent credit card. After the teller realized the transaction was suspicious, JORDAN left the bank without the money and headed to the Quality Inn in Merrimack, where all five suspects were believed to be staying.
Around the same time on June 9, Concord Police arrested a man and a woman for attempting to make a fraudulent transaction at a bank in Concord. Additionally, Merrimack Police, who had been alerted to the fraudulent activity in the area, responded to the Quality Inn in an attempt to locate the remaining suspects. Merrimack Police recognized a black Toyota Rav4 that the suspects were reported to be driving, pull into the Inn and then immediately leave the area. Police followed the vehicle into Nashua and, after a foot pursuit, arrested the two female occupants.
At approximately 5:50 p.m., Bedford Police located JORDAN at the Quality Inn, and through an investigation, which included surveillance photos from Citizens Bank, arrested her.
Police also learned that on Wednesday, June 3, JORDAN had been to other banks in the area, and was able to successfully withdraw $1,000 from TD Bank on 141 South River Road.
JORDAN was held on $25,000 bail at the Valley Street Jail pending her arraignment at 9th Circuit – District Division – Merrimack.
“Due to the swift actions of police, we were able to put and end to this fraudulent activity in our community,” Chief Bryfonski said. “Thank you to the Concord and Merrimack Police Department, which located and arrested the additional suspects involved in this illegal activity.”
