North Haven Fire Battles Suspicious Structure Fire on Vacant Property
NORTH HAVEN – Chief Paul Januszewski reports that the North Haven Fire Department responded overnight to a suspicious structure fire located in the woods in the area of 83 Kings Highway.
At approximately 4:45 a.m., the North Haven Fire Department was dispatched for a full structure response at 124 Mansfield Rd. Upon arrival, firefighters found a three-car garage on a vacant property fully involved.
Due to the location of the property and time of day, notification to the fire department was delayed until the structure was fully involved and visible from a nearby interstate highway.
Firefighters on scene requested a tanker from Wallingford Fire due to lack of hydrants in the area. The fire was extinguished with all units operating from the exterior of the structure. No injuries were reported.
“At this time, the fire is considered highly suspicious,” Chief Januszewski said. “Anyone with information regarding this morning’s incident should contact the fire department immediately.”
The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation by the North Haven Fire Department.
