The Juniors and Seniors in Electrical Shop at Northeast Metro Tech completed a special project this year, installing Guardian Indoor Active Shooter Detection System in their school. This unique project included Ethernet Cabling, Hardware Installation and IT Setup, and taught the students about components such as infrared sensor and acoustic detection technologies.
Northeast Metro Tech is the first Vocational School in the nation to not only adopt this technology, but to have the students perform the installation throughout the school as a part of their Electrical program of studies. These students have learned a new and unique skill in the field of Lifesafety Technology that will stand out against their peers as they search for employment upon graduation.
