Littleton Police K-9 Unit Completes Advanced Drug Training
LITTLETON – Chief Matthew J. King is pleased to announce that Officer Brian Casey and K-9 Vojak completed advanced drug training for the Littleton Police Department last week.
Officer Casey and Vojak finished the narcotics training program, which was based out of the Boston Police K-9 Academy in Jamaica Plain, on June 2. They completed their final certification in Arlington after conducting vehicle searches at the Department of Public Works, along with building, locker and classroom searches at Arlington High School.
During the six-week course, Officer Casey and Vojak traveled throughout the state practicing building and vehicle searches for illegal narcotics at various locations including schools, businesses, car dealerships and the Boston Police tow lot.
The pair completed their initial K-9 patrol training on Aug. 1. This second phase of training began in April and solidifies Vojak as a dual-purpose K-9, meaning that he is certified in patrol as well as narcotics.
“Officer Casey and Vojak have worked hard to complete the various rounds of patrol and narcotics training in order to graduate,” Chief King said. “Their dedication and newly acquired skill set provides us with a tremendous resource to make Littleton and surrounding communities safer.”
The two regularly patrol the town, and are available to surrounding communities and members of the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council when a K-9 unit is needed to aid a search or investigation.
