Bedford Police Investigating Threats Against Schools
BEDFORD, N.H. — Captain Daniel Douidi reports that the Bedford Police Department is investigating numerous threats made against Bedford schools this afternoon. Police do not believe the threats are credible, but several steps are being taken this afternoon out of an abundance of caution.
At approximately 12:45 p.m., Bedford Police responded to both Bedford High School and the Ross A. Lurgio Middle School to conduct searches of both buildings and confirm the sites were safe. Students were evacuated from the schools during the process.
Lurgio Middle School students have already been dismissed for the day.
Bedford High School students will be released at their regular time of 2:35 p.m. At that time, they will be allowed back into the school to gather their books and backpacks.
Parents and students should be advised that this may delay bus routes at other schools in the district.
Bedford Police will remain on scene at both locations to ensure the safety of both campuses.
All afternoon activities at Lurgio and the High School have been cancelled because of the changes in dismissal times. However, evening activities, including eighth grade information night, will remain scheduled as planned.
