HULL — Acting Police Chief Robert C. Sawtelle reports that the Hull Police Department arrested a woman and her son after the two allegedly broke into an ATM, stole a debit card from the machine and then used it to purchase gas in a nearby town.
LORRAINE TESORERO, AGE 55, OF HULL and PETER O’NEILL, AGE 34, OF HULL are charged with:
• Breaking into a Depository
• Conspiracy to Break into a Depository
• Malicious Destruction of Property Over $250
• Improper Use of a Credit Card Under $250

On April 25 at 9:50 a.m., Hull Police responded to Santander Bank, 523 Nantasket Ave., for a report of vandalism to an ATM machine. Upon arrival, an officer found the card reader portion of the ATM damaged. Surveillance photos showed a woman driving a white SUV pull up to the ATM and a male passenger breaking into the ATM machine with a hatchet earlier that morning, just after 12:30 a.m.
The two then bought gas and a pack of cigarettes at the Tiger Mart in Hingham with the stolen debit card.
Police were able to identify the woman as TESORERO from the surveillance photos.TESORERO turned herself into police on April 25 around 3 p.m., telling them that she and her son, O’NEILL, went to the bank the previous evening to withdraw cash with her ATM card. When the machine would not cooperate, O’NEILL broke into the machine and took out TESORERO’sdebit card and another customer’s card.
Police then arrested TESORERO at the station and later arrested O’NEILL at approximately 5 p.m. that same day.
“I am proud of how efficiently Hull Police solved this case,” said Chief Sawtelle. “Their collaboration resulted in a quick resolution.”
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
