Wenham Police Find Stolen Safe from House Break In Marblehead, Recover Over $100,000 in Jewelry
WENHAM — Chief Thomas Perkins reports that the Wenham Police Department recovered a safe and over $100,000 in jewelry that was stolen during a residential breaking and entering last month in Marblehead.
Police recovered the safe on April 12 while on patrol in the area of Boulder Lane after noticing debris on the side of the road.
Upon further investigation, they located jewelry and a safe. The items were collected and brought back to the Wenham police station. Detective Shane Kavanagh, who was on scene, researched recent break-ins throughout the area and found that Marblehead had a safe stolen from a residence during the week of March 12-16.
This morning, Wenham and Marblehead detectives determined that the safe was the same one stolen from a home in Marblehead.
“We’re pleased to have recovered these items to return to their rightful owner,” Chief Perkins said. “I commend the work of the detectives from the Wenham Police Department and Marblehead Police Department, who will continue to collaborate throughout this investigation.”
The investigation is open and ongoing. Anyone with information on the incident is encouraged to call the Wenham Police Department at 978-468-4000 or the Marblehead Police Department at 781-631-1212.
