Town of Great Barrington Gives Update of Storm Procedures
GREAT BARRINGTON — We didn’t expect to have snow in April, but the Great Barrington Department of Public Works and the Great Barrington Police Department were busy today and yesterday dealing with two spring snowstorms.
The Department of Public Works has 10 trucks and employees that have been treating and plowing the roads since 7 a.m. today and were out yesterday at 3 and 8 a.m. They will continue to plow and salt the roads until the storm is done.
No major incidents have been reported in town, however, there have been several downed tree limbs and power lines. There have also been 11 minor motor vehicle crashes Monday, which were all storm related and mostly involved vehicles sliding off the road. No injuries were reported.
“Our crews and staff have been working hard to keep the roads as safe as possible, but the wet snow and cold temperatures can still make for slippery conditions. Please, drive carefully,” Department of Public Work Superintendent Joe Sokul said.
