Concord Police Arrest Man for Assault and Battery on Police Officers
Two Officers Treated for Minor Injuries
CONCORD — Chief Joseph O’Connor reports that the Concord Police Department arrested a man for assault and battery on three police officers earlier today.
JACOB ANDREW RANDLE, AGE 19, OF CONCORD is charged with:
- Assault with Intent to Murder
- Assault and Battery on a Police Officer Causing Bodily Injury
- Simple Assault and Battery on a Police Officer
- Assault and Battery on a Person 60 Years or Older
- Malicious Destruction of Property Over $250
On Wednesday, March 23, at approximately 8 a.m., police responded to a residence on Baker Avenue on a report of a disturbed person.
Upon officers’ arrival, they encountered a large man, 5 feet 11 inches tall and 270 pounds, who appeared to be in a disturbed mental state. He was identified as RANDLE. As officers tried to calm him, the man assaulted three officers and threatened to kill them.
Officers ordered RANDLE to the ground, but he refused and instead took a fighting stance. After a violent struggle, police deployed their tasers and were able to contain RANDLE.
Police believe RANDLE had smoked synthetic marijuana or another hallucinogenic drug prior to the altercation.
Two officers were taken to Emerson Hospital with minor injuries. RANDLE was transported to Emerson Hospital to be treated and assessed. He is being held at the Middlesex Jail and House of Correction pending his arraignment at Concord District Court.
