Maryland Addiction Recovery Center Joins P.A.A.R.I. to Offer Addiction Recovery Services to Participants

NEWTON and TOWSON, MD. — Gloucester Police Chief Leonard Campanello and John Rosenthal, co-founders of The Police Assisted Addiction and Recovery Initiative (P.A.A.R.I.), are pleased to announce that Maryland Addiction Recovery Center has joined the growing list of treatment centers that have partnered with P.A.A.R.I. to offer addiction recovery services to participants.

Last summer, Chief Campanello and businessman John Rosenthal launched P.A.A.R.I. — a nonprofit organization created in response to Gloucester Police Department’s ANGEL Initiative. Rather than arrest their way out of the problem of drug addiction, police departments place those who come to them for help into treatment programs. As partnerships with recovery centers continue to grow, so does P.A.A.R.I.’s ability to support police departments who want to assist their communities in saving lives.

As treatment providers, it is our responsibility to make life-saving treatment accessible to those in need and this partnership is a further step in that direction.”

The Maryland Addiction Recovery Center offers an individualized comprehensive approach to substance abuse in a safe, private setting. Treatment services include individual and group therapy, family counseling for both patient and family, dual diagnosis, case management and life skills training, and recovery resource services. Maryland Addiction Recovery utilizes a process oriented approach to treat addiction as an attachment disorder by examining the underlying causes of a client’s addiction. This model is based on the three necessary components of treatment – medical, psycho-therapy, and case management/social work services – in order to offer patients and their families a new life free of drugs and alcohol.

Chief Campanello and Rosenthal are pleased to welcome the Maryland Addiction Recovery Center as a partner and commend them for stepping up to help meet the need for additional resources for P.A.A.R.I. participants. They are eager to work together to continue on their mission of saving lives and destigmatizing the disease of addiction.

About Maryland Addiction Recovery Center:

Maryland Addiction Recovery Center offers a full continuum of care for drug rehabilitation, substance abuse, and alcohol dependency including partial hospitalization, day treatment, intensive outpatient, and outpatient substance abuse treatment, DUI/DWI education and continuing care.

The drug and alcohol rehabilitation program is dual-diagnosis capable, meaning that staff is experienced in working with clients who are suffering from both a drug and/or alcohol addiction and a co-occurring psychiatric illness, such as depression and anxiety. All levels of treatment include services for family counseling, vocational education and training, anger management, trauma, and gender specific groups.

In order to foster a healthy environment for clients and their loved ones to fully recover, Maryland Addiction Recovery places an emphasis on reconstructing the family system through heavy family involvement during the entire treatment process.

About P.A.A.R.I.:

P.A.A.R.I. was started to support local police departments as they work with opioid addicts. Rather than arrest our way out of the problem of drug addiction, P.A.A.R.I. committed police departments to:

• Encourage opioid drug users to seek recovery
• Help distribute life saving opioid blocking drugs to prevent and treat overdoses
• Connect people suffering with opioid addiction with treatment programs and facilities
• Provide resources to other police departments and communities that want to do more to fight the opioid addiction epidemic

P.A.A.R.I. was created by Gloucester Police Chief Leonard Campanello and John Rosenthal to bridge the gap between the police department and persons suffering from the disease of opiate addiction who are seeking recovery. Since its founding, 90 police departments in 22 states have joined as partners with the initiative.
