Arlington Police to Host March A.C.T.S. Meeting with Guest Speaker Mike Duggan from Wicked Sober
ARLINGTON — Chief Frederick Ryan announces that the Arlington Police Department will host an Addiction Community Training and Support (A.C.T.S.) meeting with guest speaker Mike Duggan from Wicked Sober next week.
The event will offer support, information and strategies for opiate users and their loved ones, and provide free doses of Narcan and training to attendees. CBS Nightly News will also be at the meeting filming as part of a segment on the nation’s opiate crisis.
“We’re excited to have Arlington native Mike Duggan share his stories and experiences surrounding his own addiction with attendees,” Chief Ryan said. “Additionally, we’re hopeful that CBS’ segment will help us spread the message that those struggling with the disease of addiction are not alone and that recovery is possible.”
WHEN:
Tuesday, March 22, from 7-8 p.m.
WHERE:
Arlington Town Hall, Charles Lyon Hearing Room, Second Floor, 730 Massachusetts Ave.
WHAT:
Guest speaker Mike Duggan is a certified interventionist and the founder of Wicked Sober. Collaborating with a variety of treatment facilities, staff work to place clients in programs that suit their individual needs, including drug and alcohol detox, overdose prevention, inpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and aftercare.
A.C.T.S. is a major component of The Arlington Outreach Initiative, which is a plan of action inspired by the Gloucester Police Department ANGEL Initiative, created by Gloucester Police Chief Leonard Campanello. In addition to providing education and support, Arlington’s Outreach Initiative aims to help those who use substances and their families, friends and caregivers by making them aware of available treatment options and resources.
