Maynard Police Arrest Man for 5th OUI Offense
MAYNARD — Chief Mark Dubois reports that the Maynard Police Department arrested a man over the weekend for his fifth Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol offense.
JOSEPH P. LYNSKY, AGE 74, OF MAYNARD, is charged with:
- OUI Liquor (Fifth Offense)
- Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Operating With a Defective Tire (cut over 1 inch in length)
On Saturday, March 12, at approximately 10:50 a.m., Officer Shawn Corrigan was on Main Street when several pedestrians alerted him to a vehicle driving on its rim farther down the road. After continuing to travel down Main Street, Officer Corrigan observed that the front right tire was almost completely missing from a vehicle as it made a right turn onto River Street.
He then observed the operator, later identified as LYNSKY, exit the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Officer Corrigan stopped to assist LYNSKY and immediately noticed that he was very unsteady on his feet and smelled of alcohol.
After an investigation, LYNSKY was placed under arrest. He was released on bail later that day and arraigned at Concord District Court this morning.
“The actions of this individual were extremely reckless as he put his own life and the lives of all other motorists and pedestrians in danger,” Chief Dubois said. “Thanks to the swift action of residents and the quick response by police, this man was taken into custody without incident.”
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
