Bedford Police Arrest Man for Burglary
BEDFORD, N.H. — Chief John Bryfonski reports that the Bedford Police Department arrested a man for burglary over the weekend.
Around 2:15 p.m. on Feb. 13, police received a call regarding a suspicious person on Forest Drive. The reporting party stated that a man, wearing a green jacket, had run through the woods, gone behind a neighbor’s house and potentially burglarized it.
While en route to the scene, police received an additional report from the caller stating the man was now on Southgate Drive and had a black backpack.
An officer responded to Southgate Drive and located a man, later identified as BRIAN WATTS, AGE 43, OF AMHERST N.H., who was wearing a green jacket and black backpack and walking down the driveway of a residence.
The officer stopped WATTS and determined he was responsible for a burglary at a residence on Forest Drive. He was arrested and charged with Burglary.
“It appears that this man has been battling an opioid addiction. This is, unfortunately, an example of the negative effects drug addiction can have on a community,” Chief Bryfonski said. “I would like to applaud the citizen who noticed suspicious activity and immediately contacted police. With this person’s help we were able to quickly find the suspect and hold him accountable for his actions.”
Officers also located a white 2004 GMC Sierra 2500HD pickup truck parked nearby on Camp Road, which was determined to be the suspect’s vehicle. It was towed from the scene.
WATTS was held at the Hillsborough County Department of Corrects in Manchester pending his arraignment at the 9th Circuit Court – District Division – Merrimack.
