Gloucester Declares Snow Emergency and Parking Ban in Anticipation of Storm

GLOUCESTER — This is a message from Gloucester Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken:

“The city of Gloucester is declaring a Snow Emergency and Parking Ban effective tomorrow, Monday February 8, 2016 at 9 a.m. This declaration is due to the predicted 18-24 hour winter storm and possible coastal flooding during the 10:44 a.m. high tide and tidal surge.

The parking ban will be in effect at 9 a.m. tomorrow, February 8, 2016 until 6 a.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2016. All vehicles are banned from parking on city streets. Residents may park in all municipal parking lots until 6 a.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2016.

Violators of this emergency declaration are subject to ticketing and towing at the owner’s expense.

All residents and businesses are reminded that they are responsible for clearing snow from sidewalks adjacent to their property. Your cooperation during this parking ban is necessary for efficient and safe snow removal efforts.

To repeat, the city of Gloucester has issued a parking ban on all city streets as of 9 a.m. tomorrow, February 8, 2016. The ban shall be in effect until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2016.

Thank you for listening, and this concludes this message.”
