NEMLEC Foundation Hosts Gordon Graham for Highly Successful Risk Management Seminar with Law Enforcement Personnel

DRACUT — The NEMLEC Police Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce that it hosted a successful risk management seminar last week at Regis College in Weston.

On Tuesday, Jan. 5, the Foundation welcomed 163 police officers, representing 42 Massachusetts municipal law enforcement agencies, to a seminar led by nationally renowned risk management speaker Gordon Graham, owner of Graham Research Consultants.

Graham is a 33 year veteran of California Law Enforcement with extensive experience in risk management.  He is a practicing attorney and leading professional speaker in both private and public sector organizations with multiple areas of expertise.

As part of his presentation, Graham discussed organizational risk management and how it applies to specific law enforcement operations. He suggested that combining risk management with an understanding of customer service, accountability and integrity can assure operations within an organization are successful.

“We are proud to be able to host valuable training sessions for our local law enforcement agencies,” said Rich Raymond, Chairman of the NEMLEC Foundation. “This is a fantastic resource and I hope those in attendance walked away with some valuable insight.”

Graham also spoke about several high risk situations for police officers, including vehicle and roadway operations, harassment and integrity issues, use of force, custody and detention, report writing and documentation, off-duty behaviors, decision making, mental and physical health, and their end of career or end of life planning.

The Foundation would like to thank Weston Police Chief Michael Goulding for helping to secure Graham, and Lincoln Police Chief Kevin Kennedy, a foundation board member, for his hard work in putting the program together.

“We had an outstanding turnout for this event and the entire group remained enthusiastic throughout the day,” said Sharon Crowley, NEMLEC Foundation Coordinator. “We will continue to work to provide additional training opportunities like this seminar to our law enforcement professionals.”
