Andover Police Arrest Man for Burglary Early This Morning
ANDOVER — Chief Patrick Keefe reports that the Andover Police Department arrested a man early this morning for allegedly breaking into two homes.
Andover Police responded to a residence on Kirkland Drive at 4 a.m. this morning, for a report of a burglary in progress. The 911 caller told police a male had broken into their home and was currently standing in the foyer.
The suspect, CHRISTOPHER HILDRETH, AGE 28, OF PEMBROKE, N.H., reportedly grabbed the phone away from the homeowner while they were on the phone with police, and fled the residence through the window next to the front door, which HILDRETH allegedly broke into the home through initially.
HILDRETH crossed the road to Lowell Street, where he allegedly entered another home through an unlocked rear door and was confronted by the homeowner. HILDRETH fled the home to the front yard where he was met by Andover Police. While being taken into custody, HILDRETH kicked a police officer.
HILDRETH stated he was high on crack cocaine, and had a small laceration on his back which is believed to have occurred when he entered the first home through the broken window.
HILDRETH was transported to Lawrence General Hospital for examination and is being charged with the following:
- Unarmed Burglary
- Armed Burglary
- Assault and Battery on a Police Officer
- OUI drugs
- Leaving the scene of an accident
“Luckily, no one was seriously injured and nothing was taken from either of these homes in this case, thanks to the homeowner’s immediate 911 call and the quick response from police officers on duty,” Chief Keefe said.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
