Carlisle Police Department Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash
CARLISLE — Chief John Fisher reports that the Carlisle Police Department is investigating a motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck that resulted in the death of the motorcycle operator.
Carlisle Police and Fire responded to the intersection of Lowell Street and North Road at 4:31 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, rescuers found that a motorcycle had crashed into the rear of a Chevrolet pickup truck.
The operator of the motorcycle, identified as James P. McMahon, age 69, of Readville (Boston) sustained serious injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Lahey Hospital and Medical Center where he later died.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of pickup truck, a 22-year-old Carlisle man, indicated for a left turn at the intersection, and when he slowed to take the turn, the motorcycle struck the rear of the truck.
The incident remains under investigation by the Carlisle Police Department and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
