Solutions and Inspirations Recovery Centers Partner with The Gloucester Initiative
GLOUCESTER — Police Chief Leonard Campanello and Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken are happy to announce that Florida’s Solutions Recovery Center and Inspirations Recovery Center are joining with the Gloucester Police Department’s ANGEL Initiative.
The ANGEL program allows people who suffer from addiction to turn over their remaining drug supply and paraphernalia to the Gloucester Police Department without the threat of arrest. Those in need of help are put into treatment programs as opposed to jail cells. The policy went into effect last month in an effort to address a growing opioid epidemic and to reduce the number of overdoses in Massachusetts. “Solutions and Inspirations are well-respected treatment centers and have stepped up to offer support to Gloucester Initiative participants,” Chief Campanello said. “So far, we have helped put dozens of people into recovery, and this would not be possible without the generosity of our partner treatment centers, like Solutions and Inspirations. With their assistance, we will continue to make a difference in people’s lives. ”
Solutions and Inspirations will offer one scholarship per month to either facility that includes flights to and from Florida, detox and 30 days of treatment.
“We are so happy to be working with Solutions and Inspirations to help those in need,” Mayor Romeo Theken said. “Their commitment continues to further our cause of helping all those suffering from addiction get the assistance they need to recover.”
Chief Campanello and businessman John Rosenthal have launched The Police Assisted Addiction and Recovery Initiative (P.A.A.R.I.) — a new nonprofit organization created in response to Gloucester’s revolutionary drug addiction program and the immediate positive feedback from local, state and national organizations.
“Our sense of mission here at Inspirations and Solutions comes from my past mentor and spiritual advisor Brother Jack Moylan, who said, ‘always have time for another person,'” said Daniel Callahan, founder of Inspirations and Solutions. “We can all make a huge difference with initiatives like Gloucester’s in helping human beings to recover from this devastating drug epidemic our country faces.”
