Groveland Police Arrest Drunken Driver, Seeking Public’s Help In Determining Cause of Severe Damage to Vehicle
GROVELAND — The Groveland Police Department arrested a man early this morning for allegedly operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
The suspect’s vehicle has serious front end damage, and the Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying where he may have crashed the vehicle and what damage may have been done to private property.
“Any residents with information that may be related to the damage sustained by this vehicle are encouraged to call us at the police station,” Deputy Chief Jeffrey Gillen said. “Our goal is to assist anyone who may have been affected by this drunken driving incident.”
TIMOTHY REILLY, AGE 48, OF ANDOVER is charged with:
- OUI Liquor
- Leaving the Scene of Property Damage
- Defective Equipment
Around 2:50 a.m., an officer noticed a blue SUV with heavy front-end damage and only one headlight functioning drive by him on Elm Park.
The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and noticed a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the operator, who was later identified as REILLY.
REILLY told police he was coming from Lawrence and heading home to Andover. After failing several sobriety tests, he was placed under arrest.
The suspect was held overnight at the Groveland Police Department arraigned at Haverhill District Court today.
Anyone with information on property or motor vehicle damage in the area, especially in Groveland, Lawrence, Haverhill, Methuen, or Andover is encouraged to call the Groveland Police Department at 978-521-1212.
