Stoneham Police Investigating 20 Vandalized Golf Carts At Bear Hill Country Club

$2,500 Award to Be Given Out for Information Leading to An Arrest

STONEHAM — Chief James McIntyre reports that the Stoneham Police Department is looking for a suspect or suspects involved in vandalizing 20 golf carts at Bear Hill Country Club yesterday.

Around 6:50 a.m., police responded to the country club on North Street for a report of a past breaking entering into the pro shop. Upon arriving to the scene, an officer learned numerous golf carts had been vandalized.

Fourteen golf carts were defaced inside the garage with what officials believe to be the same type of spray paint used to mark the course’s terrain.

The first four carts in the garage had “Don’t lock us out” painted on their windshields, while the others had random markings. A mini fridge and circuit breaker panel were also spray painted. Police think the suspects forcibly opened the garage door to gain access, as it had multiple dents and could not close on its own.

On the course were six carts. One was completely covered in paint and appeared to have swastika on it. Two others had damage to their under carriages, and one was driven into a tree, scraping the bumper. Three carts were missing their keys.

“These malicious acts were completed by a suspect or suspects who sought to harm the quality of life in our community,” Chief McIntyre said. “We are following all leads and are actively looking for anyone involved in this crime.”

Bear Hill Country Club is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the individual or individuals involved.

The investigation remains open and ongoing. Anyone with information on the incident should call the Stoneham Police Department at 781-438-1215.
