Merrimac Police Encourage Residents to Attend ALS Benefit to Support Retired Chief James Flynn

MERRIMAC — Police Chief Eric M. Shears would like to encourage the community to attend a benefit for retired Chief James Flynn, who is living with ALS.

Chief Flynn retired in 2011 after 37 years of service. He was the Chief of Police for 28 years and a longtime member of the Essex County Chiefs and Massachusetts Chiefs of Police associations. He was diagnosed with an aggressive form of ALS in late 2014.

Merrimac Police and the Merrimac Fire Department will sponsor a turkey dinner for residents. All proceeds from the event will go toward the Flynn family’s medical expenses.

“We consider Chief Flynn a member of our extended family and we will do anything we can to support him and his family,” Chief Shears said. “We ask the community to come out and join us for this noble cause.”

WHEN:

June 13, 4-7 p.m.

WHERE:

Merrimac Fire Department, 16 E Main St.

COST:

$12 per adult, $6 for children (children under 5 free)

Tickets can be purchased at the Merrimac Police and Fire Departments.

DONATE:
