Burlington Fire Department Transports Town Worker Who Fell While Removing Snow from Roof of Town Building

BURLINGTON — Fire Chief Steve Yetman reports that the Burlington Fire Department responded this morning to a town-owned warehouse for a report of a fall.

Fire and EMS crews responded at 11:10 a.m. to 10 Great Meadow Row. Upon arrival, responders found a 32-year-old male had been clearing snow from the roof of the warehouse when he unknowingly stepped on a skylight and fell approximately 35 feet into the building below.

The victim, a town employee, was taken by Burlington Ambulance to Lahey Hospital and Medical Center with injuries that are considered serious but non life-threatening.

“Clearing snow from rooftops can always be a dangerous task, especially when the snow is deep, and you may not know what you are stepping on,” Chief Yetman said. “Fortunately, rescue crews were able to get to the victim quickly and rush him to the hospital.”
