Wenham Police Urge Safety During Coming Blizzard
WENHAM — Police Chief Thomas Perkins and the Wenham Police Department are urging all town residents to take precautions to stay safe during the coming Winter Storm Juno.
A Blizzard Warning is in effect for Wenham at this time.
Power outages are possible, as wind gusts will approach hurricane-force.
The Police and Fire stations will be open throughout the storm, and they have emergency power supplies for anyone who needs to warm up or charge their cell phones or vital electronics.
Should the need arise, the town will be opening the Buker School as a shelter.
If you have an emergency, dial 911. You can also reach Wenham Police at 978-468-4000.
Patrols will be visible in town neighborhoods, and if the power goes out, police will be doing well-being checks.
Anyone with a disability or medical issue is encouraged to call Wenham Police ahead of time to request a well-being check during the storm. Police are maintaining a list of such residents/address and will do our best to check in on them as the storm progresses.
“We are accustomed to winter storms in Massachusetts, but this one is certainly larger than ordinary. Together, we can ride out the next few days safely and securely,” Chief Perkins said. “If it is safe to do so, I encourage everyone to pitch in. Dig out your fire hydrants, check on your elderly or ill neighbors. These are the days that define us as a community.”
