Merrimac Police Investigating Overnight Residential Robbery

MERRIMAC — Police Chief Eric M. Shears reports that the Merrimac Police Department is investigating a residential robbery.

Merrimac Police were called to a residence on Woodland Street around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday. An officer spoke to a visibly upset resident who informed him that she has a home-based business, and that three men came to her door a short time earlier and forced her to open a safe and her purse and give them money.

The three suspects made off with a large sum of cash.

The suspects were not known to the victim. All three were said to be white men in their 20s or early 30s. One suspect was described as 5’9″ tall, in his early 20s. The other two suspects were described to be wearing hooded sweatshirts, but no other description was available.

The Massachusetts State Police, including five troopers and a State Police K-9 responded to Merrimac to assist in processing the scene and searching for the suspects, but they could not be located.

The victim was treated by Emergency Medical Services at the scene, but she declined further medical treatment.

If anyone saw anything suspicious in the area early Wednesday morning or has any information on this incident, they are urged to call Merrimac Police at 978-346-8321. All calls may remain anonymous.
