Bagnall Principal Search Underway for Extraordinary Educational Leader
The Dr. Elmer S. Bagnall Innovation School for Design & Engineering will need “the right person” as its new principal. Bagnall, like other Pentucket schools, seeks a world class future, striving to make a difference for students, staff, and the community.
WEST NEWBURY, Mass. — Pentucket Regional School District Superintendent Jeff Mulqueen has initiated a search for the next school principal at the Dr. Elmer S. Bagnall School in Groveland.
“Parents and staff members tell me that they are looking for an extraordinary educational leader who reflects their enthusiasm and commitment to accelerated learning for every student,” Superintendent Mulqueen said. “We will undertake a wide and active search to find the perfect candidate.”
The Bagnall is a very important part of the Pentucket Regional School District. It was designated an Innovation School for Design & Engineering in May 2014 and is implementing a STEAM curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Mathematics) to support high quality teaching and learning for approximately 570 students spanning grades pK– 6. In addition, district-wide programs for students who have learning disabilities and emotional disabilities are centralized at the Bagnall.
Parents and staff members responded recently to Dr. Mulqueen’s invitation to reflect on the various aspects of the school and provide their ideas about the qualities needed in the next school principal. The results showed a desire for a principal who makes authentic connections with people and supports the school as a positive learning and working environment.
The superintendent also received narratives and lists that described how happy children are to learn at Bagnall School.
“Our next principal needs to believe in the capacity of all students to learn at high levels and collaborate with our Bagnall educators as they create futures for students each day,” said Maria Gray, a Grade 2 teacher at Bagnall and President of the Pentucket Association of Teachers.
The successful candidate is required to have licensure as a School Principal in Massachusetts. Ideally, the candidate will have an advanced degree related to the function of this position. Preference will be given to candidates who have licensure as a School Adjustment Counselor or credentials and experiences aligned with supporting the implementation of specialized education for students. Technical and adaptive skills are required to ensure successful leadership related to instructional leadership, management & operations, family & community engagement, and the professional culture of the school.
Qualified candidates who are eager to participate in a contemporary, fast-paced learning organization are encouraged to submit a completed application including a letter of intent, resume, three letters of reference, transcripts, and certifications no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, 2014 to:
