Working for Mayor Thomas M. Menino was a turning point in my career and in my life. As a reporter, I always had a deep respect for him, and as a Bostonian, I always admired him.
But working for him — seeing how much pride Mayor Menino took in his city every day at work and watching as every piece of city government and city life clicked together under his very careful watch — that was something truly amazing. Mayor Menino is a true statesman, and a truly great man.
It always seemed as if no obstacle was too big for Mayor Menino, and that’s why I’m confident that he will face down this latest challenge. Mayor Menino is a strong man in more ways than one, and I am praying for him and his wonderful family.
