Maynard Fire Captain Earns State Accreditation
MAYNARD – Chief Anthony Stowers is pleased to announce that Maynard Fire Capt. Angela Lawless earned accreditation from the Massachusetts Fire Services Commission.
Accreditation is granted through the Massachusetts Fire Service Commission, a gubernatorial appointed board that has established a process for uniform credentialing for the level of fire chief.
The program sets requirements based on education, training and experience in a number of areas relevant to serving as a fire chief. It also establishes benchmarks for training in fire and emergency service management in order to maximize fire service leaders’ preparedness to serve their communities.
“I am dedicated to providing the highest level of service to this community and have worked hard to continue my education and experience to bring a high level of professionalism to this position,” Capt. Lawless said. “I appreciate that this accomplishment recognizes my dedication to be the best fire service leader I can be for this community.”
Capt. Lawless’ documentation was reviewed by a subcommittee of the Massachusetts Fire Service Commission, which determined that she has attained a minimum level of credits for education, training, and experience.
“We are all very proud of Capt. Lawless,” Chief Stowers said. “She continues to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism in representing our department and the town of Maynard.”
Credentialed firefighters are required to renew their credentials every three years. The program is open to all members of the fire service in the Commonwealth serving as chief of department. Additionally, any person holding the rank of lieutenant or above in that department is also eligible to apply for credentialing. Participation in the program is voluntary.
